This study looked at dietary intake and risk factors for poor diet among children.
Key findings: Overall, this research found that children adequately met nutrient requirements, but had low intake of calcium and fibre and high intake of dietary fat and sodium. Also, considering Canada;s Food Guide: 42.3% of children did not meet recommendations for milk products; 49.9% of children did not meet recommendations for vegetables and fruit; 54.4% of children did not meet recommendations for grain products; 73.7% of children did not meet recommendations for meat and alternatives.
