This study looked at the preventive potential of various risk factors for childhood overweight.
Key findings: Reducing sedentary activity (= viewing TV, using computers and playing video games) in children and bring the mother's weight into the normal range before pregnancy offer the greatest potential for reducing the prevalence of childhood overweight. In total, approximately 40% of overweight in childhood are potentially preventable by leading a healthy and active lifestyle.
